eBay About Me Page

To add the WebRing NavBar to your eBay About Me page, follow the written tutorial provided below:

First, you need to get the NavBar code…
Because eBay does NOT allow JavaScript, you will need to get the HTML-only version of the WebRing NavBar.

  1. Sign in to your WebRing account and click the Memberships tab.
  2. Locate and click your eBay About Me title from the list of Site Titles. The Edit Site Information page will open.
  3. Click “Get Navigation Code” in the Member Tools found in the left links.
  4. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the “here” in the line that reads: “For members who wish to install the HTML version of the navigation bar, click here.” The Ring Navigation HTML Code page will open.
  5. Scroll down and copy (Ctrl + C) all the code found in the text block.
Next, you need to add the NavBar to your eBay About Me Page…
The following instructions assume that you have already created an About Me page on eBay. Instructions detailing how to create an About Me page will follow.
  1. Sign in to your eBay account.
  2. Open your About Me page.
  3. Click the “Edit” link found in the blue user bar found directly above your About Me page title. (Hint: If you don’t see the “Edit” and “Delete” links, you are most likely not signed in.)
  4. Choose the “Use our easy Step-by-Step process” option and click the “Continue>” button.
  5. Paste (Ctrl + V) the WebRing HTML-only NavBar code into the Paragraph 2 text block.
  6. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the “Continue>” button.
  7. Choose the layout of your choice, then click the “Submit>” button.

That’s it! If you have successfully added the WebRing NavBar, you will see something similar to this:

You’re now ready to join some WebRing Communities. You will want to read the “Special Requirements” section below before deciding which Communities to join.

Special Requirements
The eBay My Account page has limited editing options. This presents two issues:

  • You will NOT be able to add the preferred SSNB form of the WebRing NavBar to your eBay About Me page. As a result, you will need to use the lengthy HTML-only version of the NavBar, which may require you to manually update the code based on a ring manager’s instruction.
  • You may not be able to join all the WebRing Communities you want. Some ring managers do not accept members with sites that don't use the SSNB version. On the other hand, there are some managers who only accept sites that use the HTML-only version.
Other issues can result from not using the SSNB version, but if used sparingly, this version of the NavBar will work just fine in connecting you with other sites within the same WebRing Community.
