Create a WebRing Community To become a Community Manager, you must create a WebRing account and join an existing WebRing Community before creating your own community. You will gain valuable experience in understanding how a successful community works. Once you have met this requirement, you must complete the following steps:
  1. Identify possible web sites to include in your WebRing Community. To create a WebRing Community, you need one site, but a vibrant community needs more. If you don't know anyone else with a similar web site, search the Internet and invite the owner(s) to join.
  2. Verify the accuracy of each member's WebRing Navigation Code. Proper placement of the NavBar on each member's site is crucial for the community to work. The code is easy to place on your web site and never needs changing (unless you choose to use our antiquated, purely HTML fragment). Remember to update your registered URL information should you move the code to a different web page.
  3. Allow only members with content relevant to your community. Off topic sites will lower the quality of your entire community and reduce search engine rank.
  4. Encourage your members to place their WebRing Navigation Code on the same page as their content. The WebRing navigation code should be in a prominent place on each of the Community's web sites. Your entire community will benefit if they do. Relevant links near content improve search engine rankings for both sites.
  5. Manage your Community on a regular basis. Whether new members are joining or not, things can change. Existing sites might need help, or start FAILing (if, for example, their URL changes), etc. As a general rule, frequent walks through the community help ensure that visitors have a positive experience, and that you maximize your income opportunity.
