This webring includes practicing doulas and woman who desire to be a doula (also for midwives and other health care professionals who provide a service to expecting moms). This is also a great place to find professional organizations that either offer training, certification, listings, literature, and information on being a doula or getting one for your birth. Be careful of links to various work at home schemes. Some of them are scams. A doula is someone who stays with a laboring mother to help her to experience success in her birthing, and to act as an advocate if medical personnel want to go against the mother's wishes. Given today's medical climate, this can be extremely helpful, even life-saving.
