The Golden Retriever webring for all lovers of this wonderful breed. Open to other related retrievers as well! Retrievers were originally bred to accompany hunters who were shooting small game, such as ducks. They are said to have a soft mouth; they would bring the bird back without damaging it. Golden retrievers are incredibly loyal and gentle dogs, and are very intelligent. One time our normally mild-mannered golden threatened me back into the house. The next day, I saw bicycle tire tracks in the sand, and knew she was just protecting me. The reddish color, so I am told, is especially valued. Photo by Akaporn Bhothisuwan.
